Are you feeling angry or hurt? Or do you feel misunderstood? Do you feel like someone has said something about you, and you are now pissed off? And to top it all off, you are reeling from the covid-19 pandemic and just need a break. As a result, you are angry! You ask yourself, “can I just get a break?” Yes, you feel like the heavens have conspired against you in these moments and the result wears you down.
In the experience of these feelings, I want you to know that this is a place or location you are visiting. It is not your permanent home. It is the same as when you go on vacation; you go to a specific area for a particular time and return home.
What do you do when you find yourself experiencing these feelings? You look to “Self” for the answers. And now you’re asking me, who is Self? Where does Self reside? And, how do I contact this Self? Your answer lies in the mirror. Look in the mirror, and there you will see Self. Now you can ask all the questions you want of Self, and believe me when I tell you that the answers will come to your mind. In other words, the answer lies within you.
Anger is a secondary emotion. You are angry because of the way you are looking at your situation. Yes, how your brain interprets the information leads to your feeling. And this has nothing to do with the other person.
It is also essential to understand that you interpret from your residence. What do I mean by this? An example is, if you are a broken person, you perceive from a place of brokenness. Or, if you are a sad person, you will interpret from a place of sadness. This perception distorts the actual situation and hence your interpretation. However, to you, it is accurate. And you are right.
So how do you overcome Anger? You must first work on Self. Learn and know how events can lead to thoughts. And thoughts lead to feelings. And feelings lead to behavior.
